DRAGON QUEST 7 REIMAGINED New PS5 Gameplay Demo | Beautiful Diorama Remake of PLAYSTATION CLASSIC
Check out this new gameplay preview from Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. This work in progress demo footage running in PS5 has been edited by us and provided by Square Enix. This title is a full remake of the classic JRPG, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, originally released on the PlayStation. In essence, it takes the classic, lengthy, and episodic adventure and repackages it with modern QoL features and a distinctive, charming new aesthetic to make the journey more approachable for new and veteran players alike. The turn-based JRPG game will remind you of Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger! *_Description:_* The story begins on Estard Island, the only landmass left in the world. The protagonist (the Hero), a fisherman's son, along with his best friend, Prince Kiefer, discover ancient Stone Shards that allow them to travel to the past of various vanished continents. They must solve the problems plaguing these islands in the past to restore them to the present world. The overarching goal is to eventually confront the Demon Lord Orgodemir, who is responsible for sealing the continents away. *_Remake Key Features:_* This "Reimagined" version updates the experience with a new, charming "handcrafted" 3D visual style that brings Akira Toriyama's character designs to life in a unique, diorama-like world. Crucially, the game implements numerous quality-of-life (QoL) improvements: visible enemies, streamlined story and moonlighting (dual-vocation system). *_First Impressions:_* After spending some time diving into the world of DRAGON QUEST VII: Reimagined, we can confidently say this is shaping up to be far more than just a typical remake: it feels like an entirely new game. The moment we stepped onto Estard, we were immediately struck by the stunning visual presentation. Square Enix has gone beyond the typical HD-2D style, creating a look that blends doll-like, handcrafted characters with vibrant, diorama-style environments. This approach perfectly honors Akira Toriyama's iconic art, giving the world a unique, tactile charm, almost like playing through a meticulously crafted toy box. The story, even in the brief sections we experienced, already hints at the compelling blend of darker, surprisingly emotional vignettes and classic, goofy Dragon Quest humor that the original is known for. It truly feels like they've managed to bring the beloved PlayStation classic into the modern era with immense style. Beyond the visuals, the gameplay experience feels wonderfully streamlined and modernized. The old frustration of random encounters is thankfully gone; enemies are now visible on the map, allowing us to choose our battles, and quality-of-life additions like adjustable battle speed make grinding a breeze. The combat itself, while retaining the classic turn-based structure, feels significantly deeper thanks to the fantastic Moonlighting system, which allows each character to equip two Vocations simultaneously. This new dual-job mechanic opens up a huge amount of experimentation and strategic depth, making every combat encounter feel more engaging. Even a tough boss like Gracos was a test of strategy, not just brute force. All these thoughtful improvements have completely erased any worries we had about the game's infamous length. If the full journey maintains this level of charm and quality, those 100+ hours are going to fly by! *_Release Date:_* Coming February 5, 2026 to PS5, Xbox, PC, Switch and Switch 2 https://store.steampowered.com/app/2499860/DRAGON_QUEST_VII_Reimagined/ #newgames2026 #newgames2025 #ps5pro *** ☑️ Please support the channel with a LIKE... and turn on notifications! 🔔 ❤️ Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX1sraLIy6wS2R-SMcdoakg?sub_confirmation=1 👑 Join this channel to get access to perks: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX1sraLIy6wS2R-SMcdoakg/join If you're a publisher, developer, artist and would like to get your game featured in the channel, please contact us!
