They are just a bunch of enemies like you've been fighting so far, nothing special. After each Lesser Crucible, the Death Veil's health will decrease a bit. The last Lesser Crucible will shoot fire at you from a distance, but you can stay behind the wall to avoid this, and the fire will also damage the enemies for you. If you die, you don't need to redo the Lesser Crucibles that you finished in the previous life, they remain completed. You can simply spam your summoning seals in each Lesser Crucible, respawn, repeat at the next one.
