Valor Mortis - Captain Raphael of the Nephtis Superioris Boss Fight
Valor Mortis Captain Raphael of the Nephtis Superioris Boss Fight in Chapter Chapter 9: In Ruins (9th Boss). Valor Mortis All Boss Fights Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUmZCI-4odKY Nephtis Superioris is the ninth main boss of the game, fought at the end of Chapter 9: In Ruins. This boss fights somewhat like the Eternal Guardsman enemies, as he is the leader of the group. He only has one health bar, but is still technically a multi-phase fight where he gains new attacks as you deplete his health. He is also the only boss that can actively heal during the fight, which causes this one to potentially take much longer than expected even though he only has one health bar. The primary attack that the boss does is a long string of sword attacks, similar to the long string the Eternal Guardsman do. The tells are fairly lenient, and he almost always does the entire stuff until you back away, so it is very helpful to learn to parry this, and then you can stagger him to do a lot of damage. In between you can try using Fire to burn him, but the effect runs out pretty quickly so you won't be able to gain a ton of damage this way. Like the Eternal Guardsman he also will shoot you with a gun from his left (your right) hand, and you should watch for when he pulls this to dodge to the side. He will also sometimes drop to his knees and send out a wave of Stasis similar to the Volunteers, and you should slightly back away and jump over this to avoid it, as it will instantly inflict the Stasis status on you if you are hit by it. You can go into your inventory to use a Cleansing Vial to clear this if you don't want to equip it in an Item Slot over other items. Once you get him to around half health for the first time is when he will start gaining more new attacks. The Stasis wave he will send out twice in one go instead of once, so make sure to watch and jump over the second wave. The other main attack to watch for in the second phase is a very heavily damaging unblockable attack, where he will crouch down and his sword will light on fire, before he slashes across the stage. You can dodge through this, but you need to make sure you do and don't get hit by it. To damage him in all phases you should primarily focus on parrying his combos to stagger him, then just get melee hits in between. If you want to make the fight go quicker you can try to chase him around, because he will normally back away to either reload his gun or heal, but you can keep close to him and get extra attacks in when he does this.
